Step 1: Initial Consultation
We will give an initial consultation to you as our client both over the phone and in person with one of our mold testing specialists. Our mold specialist will ask you if you have had any of the following issues: humidity or moisture problems, smells of a moldy odor, recent or past leaks in your roof or plumbing, or if there is any mold that is visible on your property.
Step 2: Inspection for Mold
The second step in our process is to have our mold specialist visually inspect areas of the property for signs of mold or potential mold hazards like water leaks or humid areas. Our mold specialist may use tools to help in the inspection like:
A Hydrometer (measures humidity indoors)
Moisture Meter (Detects Levels of Moisture)
Laser Thermometers (Checks AC Unit Operation & surface temperatures)
Borescopes (Allows us to view the inside of walls)
Step 3: Taking Mold Samples
Mold is not always visible. This is why we may need to take air samples. These samples can tell us what type of mold we are dealing with on the property. We will take both indoor and outdoor air samples to compare the spore count. Further samples may be needed in order to provide the most accurate account of the mold problem on the property. These mold samples may include:
Sampling of mold in the carpet using a carpet cassette
Scraping off of the buildings surface where mold is or could be present
Swabbed surface samples
Bulk samples may be taken using small samples cut away from the area of the building that is contaminated with mold
Step 4: Analysis of Samples
We send all samples of mold and mold spores to a lab to be analyzed by a trained lab technician. From here a report will be compiled detailing the specific types of mold found and the number of mold spores per cubic meter.
Step 5: Findings Report
Once we receive the report from the lab we will review it with the mold inspector and go over the details with you the client. From there we will provide you with our recommendations on the removal of the mold. Once the steps have been taking to have the mold removed we send our mold specialist out to take a final air sample to make sure the mold contamination is removed from your property.
